Tupac Shakur memorial dedication in Atlanta |
The Atlanta-Journal Constitution is reporting that a memorial to slain rappper/actor Tupac Shakur is being planned in the southern city. A sign has been erected at 5616 Memorial Drive, announcing that the Tupac Amaru Shakur Center for the Arts will be built there. The site is just minutes away from where Shakur's family currently resides.
Tupac's mother Afeni, Rep. Cynthia McKinney (D-Ga.), DeKalb County CEO Vernon Jones and others are expected at the site to dedicate it to Shakur on Saturday (August 18) afternoon. The memorial will also be dedicated to others that have lost their lives to violent crime.
At press time, there are no details as to how large the center will be or when it will be completed.
Back in June, HOT 104 reported that the triple-platinum certification of Tupac's Until the End of Time made the slain rapper the best selling hip-hop artist of all time and number twenty on the list of best selling solo artists of all time with 33.5 million sold.
