Ol' Dirty Bastard may take deal on drug charges |
Ol' Dirty Bastard can plead guilty within the next two weeks on drug charges from 1999, and cut his prison time in half. He is charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fifth degree after police found 20 vials of crack on him. He faces up to seven years in prison if found guilty. However, Queens County Assistant District Attorney Ken Holder is offering to recommend the minimum sentence of two to four years if the rapper pleads gulity. Holder will also waive a bail-jumping indictment that stems from his failure to appear before Queens County Superior Court after escaping from a Los Angeles rehab clinic in October. Bail jumping is punishable with an 18-month to three-year sentence. ODB must take the offer soon if he chooses to plead guilty. He does not have many options because he was convicted of a violent felony in 1992, so he's not eligible for any drug treatment programs if the case goes to trial and he's found gulity. If he's not found guil! ty he can still be hit with the bail-jumping charge.
