Tupac Mentioned In 'The Streets' Review
"Geezers Need Excitement" talks about Pac
Review by the Las Vegas Mercury Mention Tupac Shakur here is the extract:
An astounding thematic scope unfurls throughout the album. On "Geezers Need Excitement," he lays out the mindset of the b-boy as both participant and observer, summed up in the song's all-too straightforward chorus: "Geezers need excitement/ If their lives don't provide them this, they incite violence/ Common sense, simple common sense." He turns up the sensitivity on the next track, "It's Too Late," a warm, lovelorn look at a boy worked over by romance. The last hip-hop artist to effectively evoke his contradictions so self-assuredly was Tupac Shakur.
But it's not 2Pac whom most people would be inclined to compare Skinner to. Any white rapper with a penchant for biographical purging and social commentary will be seen in the shadow of Eminem. But, despite the revelatory nature of both artists' poeticism, Skinner is nearly the opposite of the Detroit rapper: empathetic, tempered and grounded. While he lacks Eminem's vocal bravado, he makes up for it in his lyrical humility.
