"There is absolutely no reason for a record like this to be published … It has no place in our society." These are the remarks that Dan Quayle, former Vice President, made about Tupac's first album, "2Pacalypse Now." However, the subject matter that Dan Quayle claimed had no place in American society was American society to many people. Tupac's music was a reminder to America that it still had work to do. In the interlude "Pac's Theme," Tupac says in response to Quayle, "I was raised in this society so there's no way you can expect me to be a perfect person." American society has been a depraved culture to many people, and what so many people ignore is that hip-hop's content used to reflect the daily reality of its listeners.

But today's popular hip-hop artists are ignoring their role as representatives of the hip-hop culture. 50 Cent says in his hit "In Da Club," "I want em to love me like they love Pac," and Ja Rule has admitted to being a huge Tupac fan. However, both have used their beef as a way to sell records. Tupac's acrostic for the word N.I.G.G.A. was, "Never ignorant, getting goals accomplished." The artists who grew up emulating him need to adopt this doctrine and live by it.......
